The position, under general direction of the Web Manager and in collaboration with other Web team members, provides website and CMS development, design and maintenance that supports the marketing, business and infrastructure needs of UC Davis. This position has broad impact as mission-critical, public-facing websites are created and/or modified 


***This position will provide training to become a fully functioning Drupal Developer.***


Minimum Qualifications: 

• Experience building responsive websites for desktop computers, tablets and mobile devices using HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, and JavaScript. 

• Experience implementing and configuring, using/maintaining, and developing for content management systems (Drupal and/or Wordpress are desirable). 

• Experience developing custom themes for CMS applications using HTML, CSS3, JavaScript and PHP. 

• Experience evaluating, selecting, installing and configuring plugins/extensions/modules to add features and enhance functionality of CMS. 

• Experience working independently and in a team environment to meet requirements and deadlines. 

• Experience working in an environment using established standards, practices, and methodologies, including version control, issue queues, support ticket systems, quality reviews and project management. 

• Experience, and sufficient skills, with Adobe Creative Suite to translate design documents (e.g., Photoshop) into working HTML/CSS. 

• Working knowledge of *nix server operating systems and services such as Apache, MySQL, PHP. 

• Writing and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.  


Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience building sites with Drupal using content types, fields, views, menus, and both core and contributed modules. 

• Experience developing custom themes and subthemes for Drupal and/or Wordpress that validate with good HTML/CSS. 

• Experience developing custom modules and/or plugins for Drupal and/or Wordpress, following established platform coding standards and using the platform API. 

• Experience with jQuery and/or other JavaScript frameworks. 

• Experience using other CMS and frameworks, such as CodeIgniter, Zend, Symfony2 and/or others. 

• Familiarity with advanced web design tools such as SASS/Compass, Bootstrap, and grid systems. 

• Experience with XML, Object-Oriented Programming, PHP, JavaScript, SQL, Web Services and JSON. 

• Experience debugging both client- and server-side code, especially JavaScript and PHP. 

• Experience using a command line interface and shell scripting in *nix. 

• Knowledge of version control systems such as GIT. 

• Familiarity with several hosting environments for web and database solutions such as virtual private servers (vps), shared, and cloud hosting. 

• Experience with web application performance optimization, usability, accessibility and security. 

• Experience collaborating with clients and coworkers to build requirements and project estimates. 

• Organizational skills to evaluate priorities, exercise independent judgment and make appropriate decisions.
